Our Patron was the late Queen Elizabeth II.
In 1952 The Queen acceded to the Throne, over 31,000 people attend the games that year to celebrate the start of her reign.

Her Majesty has attended every year until 2019, maintaining the long tradition of a royal presence at the gathering since Queen Victoria first attended in 1848.
